On September 6th, Refresh Mental Health’s Joyce Marter provided two different trainings for continuing education for hospital social workers, nurses and case managers who specialize in working for the elderly and their families. Many of these clinicians were from large hospitals in the Greater Chicago Area, including Lutheran General, Northshore University Health, Alexian Brothers, etc. The first training was at NIU Naperville for Elderwerks, a not-for-profit providing complimentary assistance finding senior housing, care and support services for seniors and their families. The second was in Glenview, Illinois for Glenview Terrace, a premier skilled nursing care facility.
The trainings were titled, “The Psychology of Success”, a unique presentation Marter has developed which reviews the keys to living a life of prosperity, health and work/life balance. She discussed practices such as mindfulness, intention, gratitude, developing self-awareness, accessing support and using assertive communication to set healthy boundaries at home and work. Participants were engaged in lively discussion and inspired and energized to live a greater life.
Refresh Mental Health is proud to have several centers who frequently collaborate with Elderwerks, Glenview Terrace and other organizations providing services services for the elderly in the Greater Chicago Area. These centers include Urban Balance, KP Counseling and In-Home Counseling.
Refresh Mental Health is thrilled to provide expert speakers for mental health trainings and to collaborate with our colleagues who share in the mission of providing compassionate and effective services to the elderly and their families, as well as all persons in need. We believe mental health care is as important as physical healthcare and appreciate our partnerships with so many top providers.
